Hi,
testing my TelnetServer installation on Win XP with Putty...
Putty Connection type Telnet, Host=localhost and Port=23
InetD Services are running, Configuration by default.
Putty answers with "Connection closed by remote host" instead prompting me for login.
What could be wrong?
Thanks for Help, Jan

Hello
The best place to look for a failed connection error is the Windows Event Viewer under Windows Applications and Services -> Pragma TelnetServer. There should be an error event at the time of the failed connection and the details should explain why the connection could not be made.

Hallo,
the Event Viewer says "getpeername failure. Potential LSP Conflict.
Error 10038: Ein Vorgang bezog sich auf ein Objekt, das kein Socket ist."
What does it mean an how to fix it?
Thanks, Jan

This error is caused by another software installed on the server that is blocking socket activity. We have found that McAfee VirusScan 7.0 and Diamond Port Monitor cause this error, but there are most likely other programs that could cause the error as well.
Check your system for software that monitors the network or other processes. You will need to uninstall the other application. We have found that only disabling the software does not fix the error.
