Multiple instances of Telnet Server on single host?

Hi Pragmasys,

Could you please advise if it is possible to have 2 instances of Pragma Telnet Server running simultaneously on the same host (different ports)

i.e. Instance #1 listening on port #abc and Instance #2 listening on port #xyz

If this is possible, does this require a 2nd license?

Hello,

You can have TelnetServer running on any number of ports you need. Under the InetD page of the Local Server Configuration program, copy the TelnetServer service. Modify the new service with a new name, and change the port. Make sure to enable the new service.

Something to note is that even though the service is running on a different port it uses the same configurations as the original service.

Hi Beth,
My intention is to have 2 separate auto-log ins running. From what you have described this would not work.

i.e. I want clients connecting on port #abc to auto-login as "User1", and I want clients connecting on port #xyz to auto-login as "User2".

In fact, having 2 separate auto-logins is my actual goal here.
Is this in any way possible?

You can use Auto Logon with two different users. Each user will have different configuration. The global configurations will be the same for both users. 

Under the service configuration, you can set the Auto Logon to a specific user. Then under the User branch add User1 and User2. Each of those users can have a different configurations.

Hi, I'm not fully understanding how User2 can manage to logon when any new incoming connections are automatically logged on as User1?

I'm sorry for the confusion. The user configuration for the user set under the Auto Logon of the service will be used by any user connecting to the configured port.

So for your case: 
Configure the first service on the port you want, and set auto logon to User1.
Configure the second service on the port you want and set the auto logon to User 2.
Create a user configuration User1 under the Users branch. 
Create a user configuration User2 under the Users Branch.
When a user connect to the first port, the User1 configuration will be users, and when a user connects to the second port, the User2 configuration will be used.
